2. Latina$ $mart Workshops
We have officially launched Latina$ $mart, a workshop for college students to learn about negotiation and getting paid what you are worth! Escúchame and the WAGE Project (www.wageproject.org) have partnered to bring Latina$ $mart, a nuts-and-bolts, highly interactive salary negotiation workshop to young women at college campuses around the country. Here’s your opportunity to help Latinas start their careers paid what they are worth: You can recruit a campus. You can facilitate a workshop. You can even do both! Here’s how:
- To recruit a campus—call your contact at a college or university, or call the Latina organization on campus. See if the campus would be interested in sponsoring a workshop. Workshops are specifically tailored to the participants and the campus. If there’s interest, contact us and we will do the rest. Now, that’s easy.
- If you want to be trained to facilitate a workshop, also contact us today! We are arranging a training session for Latina facilitators this summer so you will be ready to facilitate a workshop on campus this fall.
Over her lifetime, a Latina graduating from college this year will earn over one million dollars less than the young man getting his degree alongside her….unless she knows how to get paid fairly and acts on it. Help her get the know-how and salary negotiation skills now. Contact us today!
3. Washington DC Internships, and More…
“The Interns, Washington, D.C. and the Federal Government: An Introduction to the Beltway directory is designed to provide interns new to the area information about everything – from jobs and internships, to D.C. housing and attractions. Coming to D.C. with an internship offer is no small feat. Not only are most internship offerings highly competitive but accounting for expenses and finding money to live, travel, and eat could be a challenge. Do not worry, there are many internship providers and universities that sponsor students with stipends and academic credit. Unpaid internships, however, may present a tougher challenge, but this directory will show you how to survive the Nation’s capital with limited resources.
If you are relocating to the Beltway and looking to claim a piece of Washington, this directory will show where to look, who to look for, and how to finance your stay. Most importantly, while providing career opportunities, coming to the D.C. area should be about fun and taking advantage of what the city has to offer.”
